1) We are now MAC people! (That is, we now use an Apple Computer!) We've been looking to switch over for a while but were lacking the motivation up until a few nights ago, when my laptop truly showed signs of old age by refusing to reboot and telling me there was no hard drive. Thankfully, praise the Lord, it started up the next day! But it was quite a fright thinking of how I would have lost the last month in pictures and documents. I have been learning how important it is to back things up on a hard drive and dvd's! We crossed over late in the night last night, and to make the moment special, we pressed the "Buy It Now" button together. :) We got a refurbished one on EBay for an amazing price and I can't wait for it arrive! It will be yet another asset for my photography business and I am so excited to learn all of its features. It's a big change to go from Windows to Apple! I'm sure there will be many moments of frustration, but also joy!
2) We are buying another car! Quite possibly, by the end of the day today, I'll be the proud owner of a '99 Saturn. But even if that doesn't work out, we're still actively searching for a second vehicle. Why, do you ask, will my moped not be efficient any longer?
--Update-- We bought the car! It is a sporty little saturn with some personality! It has a hum and a small vibration but it's a relatively easy fix.

3) Because I got a new job! As of yesterday, December 30th, I was officially hired at a non-profit organization in Honolulu that works with at-risk teens. (For privacy purposes I won't list the name.) I'll definitely be needing a car to get to and from the homes I'll be working in, as well as transporting the kiddos. This probably means we'll sell the moped. I will be super sad to stop jetting around town on my little bumblebee, but having three vehicles and two bikes would be a little ridiculous. Anyway, I was hired yesterday and start full on training next week. I haven't put in my two weeks notice at the restaurant I work in but we're going to work something out where they take me off the schedule for a few weeks and then I'll decide what I'm going to do. I'm SO excited to finally have a job in my field! I'm stoked to start and I actually look forward to the challenges I know I'll face.
4) The start of the new year brings us friends from the mainland! In a week, Pete's friend David will be visiting, and a few days after he leaves, our beloved friend Callie will be visiting!! January is going to be an amazing month of community and cherished time with people we love.
There are even more changes that I don't have time to discuss, but we are so excited about ending this year with a bunch of big purchases so we can enter 2011 and STOP spending money! We've been so blessed this season with generous family and friends who give gifts financially, emotionally, and freely, and we're so thankful for that. We hope that we bless others as much as we're blessed.
