Day 3 and 4 of Sugar Detox

The third day without sugar was interesting. I didn't lack in energy- which is awesome- but I did have to work with sugar-filled food for 5 hours at the Coffee shop. Making chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, placing M & M's, cutting banana bread.... all that equals TORTURE!! But, I did do my research enough to realize that we serve one tea that is completely sugar free- Coconut Macadamia Nut hot tea. So I just brewed the tea, and then put ice cubes in it to make it a Coconut MacNut iced tea. Normally, I'd be like, "disgusting." But it tasted sooooooo good.

Also, when I went to the grocery store yesterday afternoon, I was just waiting to get a glimpse of the Malasada Truck at the mall, because I knew it'd be so tempting and really give me a run for my money. BUT... thank Jesus that for the first day in MONTHS, Leonard's Malasada Truck wasn't there! It must have been all the storms and rain, but it was an awesome blessing to not have to see it and be tempted!

Despite the struggle, I did go out to Pizza Bob's last night with a bunch of friends. It was hard looking at their pizzas and wanting it myself, but somehow, it wasn't overwhelming. Day 2 so far has been the worst. I hope it stays that way. :)

Today is Day 4 and I'm counting on asparagus and chicken. I've been chewing on avocados, chili, eggs, and nuts to keep my body going these days. Popcorn is a great snack too. I'm planning on making Chocolate Coconut Almond bites today- we'll see how that goes! Because of this detox, I get to learn how to make something in a food processor...cool!

My homemade Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites...

...They are just not the same as Leonard's Malasadas....
