Day 1 Sugar Detox

Oh my. What have I gotten myself into? A sugar detox sounded so easy right after eating cookie dough ice cream last night!

That's probably the point. Here it is: I Am Addicted To Sugar. I don't truly know what a sugar craving is, because usually when I have a craving, I go ahead and eat it without thinking twice. While Day 1 feels tough, I'm thinking Days 2-4 are going to be even harder. I have a feeling I'm going to learn the true meaning of the word "discipline".

Let's define what has sugar: Obviously, I'm removing processed sugars, high fructose corn syrup, candy, junk food, ice cream, baked pastries, soda, etc. What I didn't realize is that I'd also be giving up fruit, dairy, breads, juice, and cereal! These things comprise my daily diet!

Now what do I do with all of these "to be avoided" foods left in my refrigerator? You know, I was tempted to go on a binge last night and finish off the sparkling apple cider, the cookie dough ice cream, the veggie dip, the leftover crepes, grapes... it just seems wrong to let these things go to waste! I am getting antsy just thinking about it.

So, what did I eat on Day 1? Breakfast: 2 over-easy eggs. Lunch: 1 piece of Mahi-Mahi and Edamame. Snack: Air popped popcorn. Dinner: Planning on an avocado and a cucumber. Yum.
