I. Am. So. Addicted.
I actually got chills today. And I felt like I had the flu for a few hours. I even collapsed on the couch and fell asleep. If you know me, you know that is so not me. To be honest, I think I slept to escape.
You know how in The Night Before Christmas poem Moore says, "The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads"? Well, I don't know what a sugar-plum is, but I do know that I have visions of Malasadas, Coconut Frappuccinos, cookie dough ice cream, and Caramel Milky Ways dancing in my head. The only difference is, I am not nestled all snug in my bed- I am shaking on the couch, trying to prevent myself from raiding the refrigerator to find a single gram of sugar!
It doesn't help that today is a cold, rainy day. Perfect for a Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks. Sadly, I also realized today that this Saturday is Rebecca and Jerome's Baby Gender Party- not just any party- but a DESSERT party!! Please do not think I am taking away from the theme...but really? Must I be surrounded by delicious desserts on Day 4 of this ridiculous detox? Rebecca, Jerome, and Baby... I apologize. One of the negative effects of sugar detoxing is Irritability...
This is so sad. I fluctuate between realizing how sad it is and saying, "Well, everything in moderation... maybe I could go take a swig of that Sparkling Apple Cider in my refrigerator and that will tide me over for the next 20 days..." Hah!
I have seriously had 6 grams of sugar today so far. Six. Four in my Juice Plus (kinda like vitamins) and two in my ketchup (that I MUST eat with my fish, no questions asked). That might not mean much if you have never looked at how many grams of sugar are in the food you eat. I wonder how many grams I eat on a regular day? I will figure that out and let you know...that is, if I'm not too embarrassed. :)
I can't believe there are actually symptoms to this sugar cleanse. I am praying that Day 2 is the worst. But I know Day 3 might be harder. Did you know that studies have shown that it can be harder to get off sugar than COCAINE?
So, what non-tasting food did I eat today? Breakfast: 2 eggs. (Sick of them already.) Lunch: Mahi-Mahi, green peppers, and onions. Dinner: Probably something yummy like plain lettuce and nuts. Ick.
I wish I had no taste buds like my husband.
